Mama Meow begin in 1995 as The Durango Cat Company, a small
retail cat store in the corner of a bookstore in Durango, Colorado. In February of 1996, we moved the store to the downtown
historic district of Durango. With Cisco the Cat as our CEO, we also launched a small website at that time.
In 1999
Cisco retired from working at the store. He had to have both of his eyes removed because of several illnesses. We bumped him
up to the front office with a big title and fat pay. He presided over the launching of MamaMeow.Com in October of 1999, and
helped develop our first print catalog. On August 25, 2001, Cisco crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. He forever remains as our
first and foremost CEO, an eternal inspiration to our current feline management team.
The retail store, The Durango
Cat Company, was sold in October of 1999. We are now Mama Meow, a catalog sales company only, with an online and print catalog.
In August of 2002, our website merged with Quickcats.Com, another retail pet gift website. With this merger we added 10 new
felines to our management team and a new shipping department in Chicago, IL, with a manager and graphics designer in that
office.
